Summertime in the north is upon us, and School is ending all across the country. This means that the kids are going to be playing more wow, and are going to want those coveted raid spots with the guilds that have been progressing all winter. Today I look to give some advice to those school aged people looking to join the many guilds out there.

1. Assume the guild has been raiding all winter without you, this means that you need them more than they need you.

2. Be honest on your application about where you have been. There are many quick and easy ways to look at your guild history, and chances are if the guild you are applying to is already in SSC/TK/BT/MtH/SW, they know their stuff. This means that stating that you are ready, or have been to somewhere can easily be judged by your rep with a certain faction and the gear you are wearing.

3. Everyone wants to see endgame. Be honest with yourself as well as the guild you are applying to about your experience. This may sound redundant with 2, but it’s not. When it comes to end game, there are several impossible fights that can be referenced as the same as X fight only harder. This makes the new fight possible and easier because everyone has seen a variation of it before.

4. Use Proper Grammar on your application. This is just like a job application, and therefore make sure you spell and grammar check everything before submitting it.

5. Make sure you answer all the questions on their application.

6. If you are applying to a guild, it means that you left your old guild for a reason. The new guild is probably not going to ask about it, but if you start telling them it’s because you had a problem with the GM, or the officers, or whatever, then they run a guild history and you have been in 12 different guilds in the last year, then they are probably not going to bring you in.

7. Just because you join a guild, that does not grant you loot priority or a raid spot. The people you are now raiding with have probably spent months laying the ground work for you to suddenly find yourself 3/6 in SSC, or stepping into BT on easy mode.

Basically every guild out there needs people at this point; it is the name of the game. Don’t expect to walk in and have the run of the place, instead be prepared to show your worth and start at the bottom. If the officers and the GM see you are outplaying the people on the A list, you will find yourself on it very quickly. Most of these end game guilds that are truly progressing did not get there by playing favorites. You will get your turn. You must also realize these guilds know that when it is time for you to return to school, they are going to lose you again … therefore they might be hesitant to give you some of that uber gear you are yearning for.
